THIS is the year you’re going to make an impact, and really shine in your industry!
So you haul out your fun new notebook, your favourite pen + you grab that freshly brewed cuppacino… and you start thinking about what worked.
What will the new year to hold for you?
As you start reflecting on how 2018 was for your business + what those hard targets will be for 2019… you start thinking about the kind of impact you want to make.
But how do you know if you’re positioning your brand for impact in 2019?
Well… before you can even contemplate the visuals of your brand, you need a solid brand strategy.
Here are my Top 3 TIPS
that will help you position yourself effectively in 2019!
1 // Know your biz direction.
Seems easy, right????
But often when I start working through this component with my clients… their thoughts don’t often clearly line up with how they truly want to position themselves.
The direction is often vague.
And hey, I get it…
we are so caught up in the day to day of our business – we are often only thinking a quarter mile at a time. A rough $$ goal, and client wishlist, and the need to deliver on what’s been promised.
But when you get really clear on your biz direction – suddenly the “what to do next” is easily measured against the goal… time is saved, decisions are easier + progress is made.
2 // Know who you want to attract and how you serve them.
This is another one that actually came up in two client calls this week.
Client #1 thought she was clear on her ideal client, but she hadn’t realised that all her efforts were positioning her towards the wrong client.
As we worked through the bones of her brand + how she wanted to position herself – it quickly became evident that who she thought was an ideal option – wasn’t in fact her ideal client – and that all her efforts were not going to attract the kind of client she wanted to attract. A new strategy was put into place that would help her really position herself in the right way.
Client #2 was very vague about who she wanted to attract… so vague in fact, that she wasn’t attracting clients in. by getting really clear on the kind of person she wanted to work with… we were then able to work through how she could add value to their lives. Now she has some really clear actionable steps to take to really connect with that client.
3 // Infuse your uniqueness into your brand.
This is an interesting piece to your branding puzzle.
Many people try to be cookie cutter versions of someone they look up to, or copy what their competitors are doing [It worked for them, it’ll work for me… right?!?!]
But instead… it just comes across as “fake vanilla” – and your client tastes the plastic fakeness a mile away.
But when you work out what makes your biz + brand unique, and you work out how to weave that into what you do… that’s where the magic happens.
* BONUS TIP // Create a strategy that pulls it all together.
One of the things that large corporates do really well… is to review their strategy each year [and some do it every 6 months] to make sure that they are still moving in a direction that works for them.
By being clear on your direction, your offering, who you want to attract, and how you’ll infuse your uniqueness… you have a really great starting point for 2019.
