I have tried numerous systems to try and stay organised… and be productive…

You see… I can think up a fabulous amount of things that I need to do – in… Oh, I don’t know… a minute! The thing is… remembering what those items are… Now THAT is a different story! After spending too much time playing hide and seek with my “To Do’s” – I realised I needed a new strategy.

My strategies have evolved over time… I started with Post-it notes {and lost them}, so I tried writing lists down {and re-writing them over, and over and OVER – talk about not being productive}, so I then moved electronic {and relied on outlook… no more rewriting for me}… and I thought I had a good thing going… till I met Wunderlist!

Let me tell you why I love it:

  1. It’s pretty {Oh come on… just because it’s admin, doesn’t mean it cant be fun}! I do however, like the fact that I can change the background image… in case I get bored of the wooden finish.

  • On a more serious note: I can create a number of lists {for each area of my life} whether it’s home, work, business No1, Business No2, Bucket lists, party details… you name it… each area is neatly grouped.
  • I can move things to the top of a list – by flagging it as important… a quick way to sort through a list of 20 items… then all I do, is click on my “Starred” list… and the Key items are now top of mind!
  • When things get crazy… flagging is not enough… I need to know what’s on my plate today… by adding a due date… I can click on my “Today” list… and I get a bird’s eye view {across all my Groups} of what I need to tackle.
  • Sometimes I forget… and by capturing something like “images in light” I find that it’s more confusing than helpful… BUT… Inside each task – I have the ability to capture 2 things that really help with this: Notes {further ideas to help my thought process}
  • …and sub tasks {tasks within the task}!!! READ: the list within a list! Aaahhsummm!

  • Hit a deadline… and you can set it to remind you that you have some items to take care of… via email!
  • And that’s not all… when you mark it as complete… it moves onto the Completed list, and off the task list, and you feel the sense of mental well-being as your load is lighter {you’ll know this as you watch the number of items reduce on your task list}… a nice feature for those who like to brag about how busy they are 😉 Kidding… but on a serious note… it really does help you Get Things Done!
  • Did I mention that it synchronises across platforms… so now my list synchronises with phone, iPad, and computer… and I hear that they have got an app for you android peeps too 😉

  • Apparently you can share a list with other people… I haven’t tried this option… but I do like the idea of keeping hubby in the loop of the ToDo’s around our home 😉

Have you used Wunderlist? How has it changed your life?
